Managing Products
Your Product Catalog is the heart of COO Studio. Maintaining an accurate catalog is key to generating compliant certificates quickly.
Adding and Editing Products
From the Products page, you can add a new product or edit an existing one. The product form contains the following fields:
- SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): A unique identifier for your product. This is required.
- Product Name: The common name of your product. This is required.
- HS Code: The 6-10 digit Harmonized System code for customs classification. This is required for CUSMA eligibility.
- Country of Origin: The two-letter country code (e.g., CA, US, MX) where the product was made. This is required for CUSMA eligibility.
- Origin Criterion: The CUSMA preference criterion (A-F) that the product qualifies under.
- Producer Type:
- SELF: Select if your company (the exporter) is also the producer.
- THIRD_PARTY: Select if the product is made by another company.
- UNKNOWN: Use if the producer is not known.
- Manufacturer: If “Third Party” is selected, you can link the product to a manufacturer from your database.
Product Aliases
If you sell the same product under different SKUs (e.g., for different marketplaces or in bundles), you can link them using an alias. This prevents you from having to create duplicate catalog entries.
You can create aliases on the Reconciliation page when a new SKU is detected.
